Despair and Dissent

This covers the period from 1966 to the election in 1968. The civil rights
movement morphed into Black Power and Black Pride. 550,000 troops were now
in Vietnam. Victory was just around the corner, but remained elusive after
TET. Johnson announces that he will not seek reelection. Death and misery
flourished in Vietnam, as well as on the home front. Peaceful civil rights
protest progressed to nation wide city riots, Martin Luther King and Robert
Kennedy were murdered. Antiwar protests were national wide and in the
hundreds of thousands.
