Read today that Bill O'Really! doesn't want the ACLU to sue for the release of all the photos from abu graib. He states that antiwar protestor who agrees with the ACLU cannot in good conscious say they support the troops. The reasoning is that the release of the photos will enrage muslims to kill more troops and the release will be a plus for recuritment.
Personally, I think he has a point and I would not support the release during war time. But Billy misses the whole point. It's Bush and his insane policy that is by far the biggest recuriter for the terrorist.
The solution, we should pull out after the elections in December, if there is an election. As it stands now, our troops will be bogged down in a civil war. I find it laughable that we are training Iraqi Police... what a joke. We are really training Kurdish and Schia and Sunni militias. Our training will make them all the more effective in killing each other when the civil war starts.
The only way to prevent this is for the USA and Bush to to insist that the constitution be apporves with equal division of oil revenues and equal rights to all. It seems the Kurds and the Shias have not and will not approve this. meanwhile, are troops are being killed, not for democracy as Bush purports, but for civil war and violence.
Bush should show some spine and stand up and insists on the above conditions. If not, get teh hell out... NOW.
I know, we hear it everyday. We can't cut and run. Well, we did it with Vietnam,Lebanon, and Haiti, and the results were not a catastrophic failure. It was a non event, no repercussions, no loss of faith in the world. Nada, Nothing. So, lets do it.
I am still haunted by Nixon who said we can't cut and run... And half the soldiers who were killed in Vietnam died under his leadership... And what did he do after four years... he cut and ran. 25,000 soldiers paid for his folly.
What will happen with Iraq? Don't know but I feel that nothing will happen. They will either agree to divide up the oil and provide equal rights or if not fight for fifty years in a civil war. It's their choice.
We can have peace in Iraq tomorrow if Bush stopped tracking down insurgents and playing the attrition game, it didn't work in Vietnam; but what he needs to do is to give Iraq the ultimatum, shape up. NOW. Or we are outta here. Peace will only come to Iraq when there are equal rights, and when the booty is shared. We should demand this. And with these provisions, the insurgency will dissolve as life gets better and safer in Iraq. It all seems so simple. So, lets do it.
